 | | Marco Biagini - Personal Biography
I teach Ashtanga yoga in Vinci, the town of Leonardo da Vinci, in the district of Firenze and in Pistoia, Tuscany. I started doing yoga self-taught in 1976 at age fifteen, and I have practiced hatha yoga since 1980. With much pleasure and gratitude, I have followed various teachers and styles of yoga. From 1988 to 1995, I practiced with Dona Holleman, who gave me teaching authorization. I started to teach in 1993.
I discovered Ashtanga yoga in October of 1993 while participating in the first retreat organized in Italy--a course led by Danny Paradise. During that period, I met Lino Miele, an internationally known teacher of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, who studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. That was a very special period: we were a small group of people who passionately practiced an unknown and revolutionary form of yoga at that time in Italy. Since then, I have become increasingly interested in this type of yoga, which gradually caused me to change both my practice and my teaching style.

For twelve years since 1994, I studied with Lino Miele for about one month per year during his teachings in Rome and in his residential courses in Italy and abroad, becoming able to do the second series of Ashtanga yoga. In February 1996, I went to practice with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the "old shala" (for twelve students at a time) in Lakshmipuram, Mysore, India. Upon returning from that trip, I started to teach Ashtanga vinyasa yoga.

My method of teaching and understanding Ashtanga yoga is characterized by attention to accurate movements, to alignment in the postures, and to vinyasa and adjustments.
