Kirsten Berg - Personal Biography

Kirsten Berg

After completing university studies (Phi Beta Kappa; magna cum laude in Classics/Latin), Kirsten Berg began exploring yoga asana on a trip to India in 1993. A few years later, she journeyed to India with a one-way ticket and enough funds to last a few years in order to find and build an inspired yoga practice. Along the way, she found inspiration with yogi Clive Sheridan; learned technique at the Iyengar Yoga Study Center in Rishikesh with Rudra Dev; and found her yoga practice with Rolf Naujokat. Kirsten has been a student of Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois since 1997. She received Guruji's blessing/authorization to teach in 1999 and is one of few women in the world currently learning the advanced A series at the KPJAYI. She and Rolf Naujokat started the seasonal Ashtanga yoga classes on Koh Phangan, Thailand in 2001. They taught together for 5 years.
